Self-Directed Support Scotland (SDSS)
Free Training on SDS for Local Authorities and Health Boards
Awareness raising project
This project is about increasing understanding of Self Directed Support and Direct Payments amongst Local Authority and Health Board staff.
For this Scottish Government funded project, SDSS is working in partnership with the Scottish Personal Assistant Employer Network (SPAEN.)
Already there is an increase in the uptake of training from across Scotland, with more sessions planned for 2010.
A training outline has been developed and is aimed at Health Board staff and Community Health Care Partnerships have been contacted so as to target allied health care professionals such as Occupational Therapists who may have a signposting role in relation to Self Directed Support.
Raising awareness of Self Directed Support amongst Local Authorities and Health Boards is crucial if disabled people are to be given a broader range of opportunities to live independent lives.
For more information, and to register an interest in training, contact John (SDSS), Violet (SPAEN) or Vernon (SPAEN.)
