New Funding Opportunity in South Scotland

Participatory Grant Funding Opportunity in South Scotland

Are you a group or organisation based or working in the South of Scotland? If yes, then the National Lottery Community Fund South Scotland Team would encourage you to get involved in local grant making opportunities.

As part of the National Lottery Community Fund’s Award for All, organisations can apply for funding of up to £10,000 if they cover areas such as:

  • The Scottish Borders
  • Dumfries and Galloway
  • North Ayrshire
  • South Ayrshire
  • East Ayrshire.

The National Lottery Community Fund South Scotland Team are interested in delivering some participatory grant-making opportunities (involving those who are to benefit in the process of distributing grant funding). This involves targeting groups that might need additional help to access their funding and to give those people that might benefit from their funding a say in how, and where, their funds are spent.

They are particularly keen to involve groups for disabled people, people with mental health and others, as well as targeting economically deprived areas, as options for piloting their participatory grant-making approach.

At present they are just gauging and testing interest in being involved in the pilot. They are particularly interested in groups which haven’t accessed their funding before, but if you have had a grant from them before they would still like to hear from you.

They anticipate being able to offer grants of up to £10,000 in the pilot, though it would still be a competitive process with some groups getting funding and some not. Criteria for funding and the decision-making process itself will be determined through a process of co-production with the groups involved. We hope that all groups would benefit by learning from each other, and becoming more familiar with their application processes. They would also provide for any expenses such as travel, food and refreshment costs in being involved.

Groups must have a constitution and their own bank account. If you do not have either of these, the Community Fund Team can arrange support to get them.

You can find more details on here: Awards for All at the Community Fund

If your group / organisation is interested in taking part you need to contact Neal to register your interest before Sunday 14 February:
