Reduction in available income charges for almost 1,000 ILFS recipients!

March 24, 2021

The Scottish government has pledged more money for the Independent Living Fund (ILF), meaning the available income charge will be reduced from a maximum of £83 to £43 per week.

The welcomed announcement was made at our 2021 SDS National Voice conference by Health Secretary Jeane Freeman, who said the ILF had been a “great source of support for disabled people, their families and carers”:

“The dedication of its staff during the pandemic provided invaluable help for people in meeting the challenges they face on a daily basis.

“I hope this will greatly improve the lives of the almost 1,000 severely disabled people currently in receipt of the fund.”
