Social Care staff to receive Real Living Wage.

April 13, 2020

The Scottish Government

On Sunday the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport, Jeane Freeman, announced a new agreement between Scottish Government and COSLA which means that all adult social care staff should now receive the Real Living Wage of £9.30 per hour, with immediate effect. She further clarified that this applies to:

‘All hours worked including sleepovers and includes personal assistance, those carers whose work is funded but who are employed directly for the person they care for.’

This announcement was made in recognition of the vital role social care staff play in Scotland’s COVID-19 response.
