Devices for those digitally excluded

September 22, 2021

The Connecting Scotland Programme, an initiative set up by Scottish Government in response to COVID-19, is open for applications.

The programme involved organisations applying for digital devices for the people they support who currently have no access to a computer or tablet. It provides iPads, Chromebooks and support to develop digital skills for people who are digitally excluded and on low incomes.

Connecting Scotland aims to get 60,000 digitally excluded households online by the end of 2021.

Organisations can apply for support on behalf of the people they work with. This includes:

  • Digital devices – iPads and/or Chromebooks
  • Internet connectivity – a mobile WiFi hotspot with 24 months unlimited data
  • Training and support – for staff and volunteers to become ‘digital champions’ to support people to use the internet confidently and safely
