The Independent Living Fund (ILF) Scotland is seeking a new Chair and two new members to join its Board.

ILF Scotland distributes funding of around £60 million each year to support people in Scotland and Northern Ireland to lead independent lives. The organisation has a staff team of around 66, who provide award management services for approximately 5,000 ILF recipients.

Current Chair of the Board, Susan Douglas-Scott, CBE, who is standing down after eight years with ILF Scotland, says:

“I have been with ILF Scotland since its inception in 2015 and throughout my tenure I have seen it grow into the dynamic and vibrant organisation we see today.

“It is so satisfying to have led an organisation that does so much with disabled people, helping them to live independent lives on their own terms, and with a team passionate about independent living. I will look back on my time at ILF Scotland with pride and know that I’ve been part of something special. I would strongly encourage anyone thinking of applying for these board roles to do so.”

This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant board as they provide strategic direction and good governance for ILF Scotland.

The roles will be of interest to people who have a commitment to the independent living movement, especially those with lived or recent experience of disability. People from all walks of life are encouraged to apply for these roles.

The Chair and Board members will be appointed by Scottish Ministers.

The deadline for application for both roles is 5pm on Monday 31st July 2023.
