Self-Directed Support Scotland (SDSS)
Self Directed Support Scotland provides a forum for Self Directed Support Organisations throughout Scotland to work together to promote better outcomes for people receiving or considering Direct Payments.
SDSS/SPAEN SDS Awareness Raising Programme
SDSS and SPAEN have each received Scottish Government funding to work together, to provide training on SDS to local authorities and health boards to raise awareness on SDS. SDSS has also agreed with this funding to provide training to advocacy organisations throughout Scotland. This is to ensure SDS recipients have access to appropriate advocacy so that they have their support needs met and can become full and active members of their local communities. Within the project SDSS will work closely with all its members to identify issues and difficulties either related to advocacy needs or generated by the lack of advocacy services for people wanting to use or using SDS. SDSS will then develop and deliver a training specifically tailored programme to advocacy organisations. The project will also allow SDSS to identify specific needs and monitor requests in order to work with the Scottish Government on future advocacy development within the field of SDS. SDSS is contracting J Dever from GCIL as External Training Co-ordinator for this project, which is still in the planning stages - please revisit this page in the near future for more information.
