Lunch will be provided for those attending in-person. Please provide your dietary requirements in the registration form.
Over the past few months, we’ve spoken with more than 100 organisations and partners across Argyll & Bute to explore whether there is support for a locally led DPO. The message has been clear: people want stronger opportunities for Disabled people to influence the decisions that affect everyday life.Now it’s time to share what we’ve learned and decide together what happens next.
At this event we’ll:
- Share the findings from our engagement across Argyll & Bute.
- Explore why a Disabled People’s Organisation could make a difference locally.
- Discuss whether a DPO is the right next step for our communities.
- Hear your ideas about what a local DPO should stand for and achieve.
- Explore opportunities to join a steering group that will help shape the next phase of development.
Why does this matter?
Disabled people know better than anyone the barriers that exist in everyday life—from transport and digital exclusion to inaccessible services and rising living costs. A Disabled People’s Organisation provides a collective voice, ensuring that decisions are shaped with Disabled people, not for them. This work is grounded in the Social Model of Disability and aims to strengthen rights, independent living and meaningful participation across Argyll & Bute.

- Rooted in local communities
- Inclusive of rural, remote and island voices
- Focused on rights, accessibility and independent living
- Ready to influence the decisions that matter most to Disabled people across Argyll & Bute.
