COVID-19 – Social care worker death in service payment

June 7, 2021

The Scottish Government has improved the guidance and claim process for their COVID-19 Social care worker death in service payment.

In July 2020, the Scottish Government published details of the Coronavirus social care worker death in service payment, however the process for applying was not as efficient as it could be.

The scheme provides a one-off payment of £60,000 to dependents or next of kin of a social care worker who has died in service as a result of, or the suspected result of, contracting COVID-19 at work.

The updated guidance and claim process should now be more straight forward for applicants.
