This workshop will look at how Self Directed Support relates to meeting the needs of people with very high support needs. This will include:

  • Looking at different scenarios like older people who need a high level of support to stay in their own home and don’t want to move into residential accommodation, but where they meet the criteria for this
  • People who need specialist health care support and would like to receive this at home rather than in a hospital/health service environment
  • People whose level of capacity means they need someone else to be their voice and represent their needs, views and concerns
  • Children and young people with a need for 24/7 support

The workshop will give people an opportunity to explore the issues people face when asking for support, how people can exercise as much choice and control as they would like over their support, and how Independent third sector organisations can support people with any concerns they have.
