Call for People and Organisations to take part in National Personal Assistant Day Activity

The Personal Assistant Programme Board, which is co-chaired by Self Directed Support Scotland and the Scottish Government, is inviting people and organisations across Scotland to get involved in National Personal Assistant (PA) Day on Friday 13 November 2026.

Under the theme of “Strengthen our Impact”, the campaign is an opportunity to recognise Personal Assistants (PAs), value PA employers’ expertise, and highlight that by working together, we can ensure better conditions for PA employers and PAs.

People and organisations can contribute through their own communications and activities, while making it easier for the people they support to have their voices heard.

The Personal Assistant Programme Board is encouraging communications activity in the following suggested timeline:

  • One week before National PA Day– explain how and why you’re participating in National PA Day activities
  • Monday 9 November- highlight the role of a PA employer and available PA employer support
  • Tuesday 10 November– highlight the role of a PA and available support for PA recruitment
  • Wednesday 11 November- highlight what resources are available to support PA employer and PA wellbeing
  • Thursday 12 November- highlight what training is available for PA employers and PAs
  • Friday 13 November- reflection on the theme ‘Strengthening our Impact’, how your organisation is involved in strengthening the impact PA employers and PAs have when working well together, how you work in partnership with other organisations, etc.

UK Disability History Month commences on Thursday 19 November, and International Day of Persons with Disabilities is on Thursday 3 December. These could be great opportunities for you and/or your organisation to keep momentum going from National PA Day activities.
