Care Reform (Scotland) Bill passed by Scottish Parliament
The Care Reform (Scotland) Bill has now been passed by Scottish Parliament.
The Bill has been passed following it’s original iteration of the National Care Service Bill.
The Bill will introduce:
- the right of people living in adult care homes to see loved ones and identify an essential care supported
- the right of unpaid carers to breaks from their caring role
- improved access to information across care settings
- improved access to independent advocacy
- the creation of a National Chief Social Work Advisor, as part of plans for a new National Social Work Agency
Once the Bill has been approved by Royal Assent, these rights will come into effect.
