Help shape the re-opening of the Independent Living Fund

The Scottish Independent Living Fund was created in 2015 following the closure of the UK Independent Living Fund, and is designed to support individuals who have complex disabilities to live independently.

Since 2015 the fund has been closed to new applicants, but it was announced in September 2023 that the fund will re-open in April 2024. This will enable up to 1,000 additional disabled people with the most complex needs to access the support they need and deserve to live independent lives.

To prepare for the re-opening of the fund, Independent Living Fund (ILF) Scotland are working with disabled people, their representative organisations, the Scottish Government and others on the co-production of the re-opened fund.

They are running a series of co-production events across Scotland to gather views and help shape the re-opened ILF.

The events are free and open to anyone with an interest in the ILF.

They are taking place on:

  • Thursday 11th January, 11am – 3pm, online via Zoom
  • Wednesday 17th January, 11am – 3pm, P&J Live, Stoneywood, Aberdeen, AB21 9FX
  • Thursday 25th January, 11am – 3pm, online via Zoom
  • Tuesday 30th January, 11am – 3pm, Stirling Court Hotel, University of Stirling, FK9 4LA
  • Monday 19th February, 11am – 3pm, Glasgow Science Centre, 50 Pacific Quay, Glasgow, G51 1EA

All events are free to attend. When you book your place, you can tell the organisers about any accessibility requirements and any additional support needs that you have for the event.

ILF Scotland will cover the cost of reasonable travel and PA support. Please keep your receipts for travel expenses and speak to the organisers on the day about how to be reimbursed for these costs.
