Introducing the new SDSS Training Programme for 2026–27
Self Directed Support Scotland (SDSS) is pleased to introduce our new Training Programme for 2026–27, designed to strengthen knowledge, confidence and good practice in Self-directed Support (SDS) across Scotland. Bringing together policy, legislation, lived experience and practical learning, the programme aims to support people and organisations to better understand SDS, navigate challenges and contribute to its continuous improvement.
The programme is aimed at Independent Support Organisations, Disabled People’s Organisations, third sector organisations, local authority staff and anyone with an interest in improving SDS implementation.
The programme consists of six training modules organised into three strands, progressing from the foundations of SDS to more advanced learning and specialist topics.
Strand 1: Foundations of SDS
Building essential knowledge and confidence – ideal for those new to SDS or looking to refresh their understanding.

SDS and People Living in Rural Communities
This specialist session explores what good SDS can look like for people living in rural communities.
Participants can choose to complete the full programme to build their knowledge progressively, or attend individual modules based on their interests, experience and learning needs.
