Reflecting on the 2025 Open Meeting of the PA Programme Board
The annual open meeting of the PA Programme Board was held online on Thursday 26th June.
The Open Meeting was the chance for PAs to find out what the Programme Board has achieved, what we’re working on, and our plans for the future.
We heard updates from each of the subgroups:
- Training
- Recruitment
- Wellbeing and PA Direct Payment National Agreement (now to be named the Standard 13)
- Employment
- Data and Research
We also heard some initial findings from the PA workforce survey 2025, watch this space for all the findings of the research being published in the coming weeks! In the meantime, you can remind yourself of the previous findings from 2023.
We also had an update from Scottish Government, which mentioned:
- The introduction of the Care Reform (Scotland) Bill
- The new minister for Social Care and Wellbeing, Tom Arthur MSP.
- A progress update of the Independent Review of Inspection, Scrutiny and Regulation of Social Care in Scotland, which includes an acceptance that the work of the Programme Board is sufficient in providing a bespoke scheme of registration for PAs at this time.
- The publication of the Disability Equality Plan.
