Membership

Self Directed Support Scotland (SDSS) is a membership organisation. The focus and direction of our work reflects the needs and priorities of our membership in their role in supporting people across Scotland.

Our member organisations come from all areas of Scotland and each organisation is concerned with supporting the implementation and development of self-directed support (SDS) in their area and beyond.

We have three membership types:

  • Type A: Disabled Persons’ Organisation (DPO). A DPO is defined as an organisation where the governing document requires that at least 51% of the governing body are either disabled people or/and people in receipt of SDS or who are eligible for SDS. If the organisation is not an incorporated body, they may nominate an individual to be the member.
  • Type B: Any community or third sector organisation, which is not a DPO but which is concerned with supporting individuals in accessing SDS and which is independent of local authorities. If the organisation is not an incorporated body, they may nominate an individual to be the member.
  • Associate: Any national, international, local voluntary or other non-profit distributing organisations (which are incorporated bodies) which do not meet the eligibility criteria for full membership.

We have different levels of membership fee depending on the income level of the project or organisation. These are:

Project Income Level:Charge:

£500,000 +£100
